Fintech startup Minko raises $1.5 mn in seed round

Minko, a fintech startup offering credit to retail shops, has raised $1.5 million in a seed round that saw participation from Mumbai Angels, CRED founder Kunal Shah, LC Nueva, and LetsVenture.

Minko will utilise the funding to strengthen its team by hiring talent for its technology and sales verticals and to expand its footprint across India

HYPD Raises Funds From Bhuvan Bam And Tanmay Bhat To Build Shopify For Creators

Creator-owned marketplace startup HYPD has raised $1.5 Mn in seed funding from Better Capital, Sauce VC and others. Influencers Bhuvan Bam, Tanmay Bhat, Ranveer Allahbadia, and Dhvani Bhanushali also invested in the round as angel investors along with CXOs of unicorn companies.

The round also saw participation from Joyance Partners, LetsVenture, Dr. Ritesh Malik (Founder, Innov8), Aditya Sehgal (ex-President Rickett), Harish Narayan (CMO, Myntra), Nadeesh Ramachandran (Head Of Performance Marketing, Google). Founders such as Shantanu Deshpande (Bombay Shaving Company), Revant Bhate (CEO, Mosaic Wellness), Harshil Mathur & Shashank Kumar (Razorpay), Rohan & Uday (Epigamia) also participated in this round.

What you need to know about becoming an angel investor in India

The big advantage of entering a company at angel or seed round is the ability to gain from its growth long before it becomes publicly listed. The big disadvantage is a much higher level of risk. However, going through an angel platform can reduce the risk. Typically, these platforms perform an initial round of due diligence before startups are allowed to pitch and even after investment they perform additional checks and monitoring of the startups. According to Nakul Saxena, head - fund strategy & investor relations, LetsVenture, the platform provides a strong curation process, performs due diligence, manages fund accounting and portfolio information for the investors and protects investor rights, “We used to get 50-60 new investors every week till 2021. Last year that number doubled to 100-120," he added.
